This alphabet hunting thing dates back to 1988, when Jann’s two boys were small. On the nature hikes the three of them took so often, they always looked for letters which Jann would photograph. They bagged several complete alphabets on their hunts, and 26 of those images are in ABCs Naturally.

Using images, poetry and prose, Jann and Lynne created ABCs Naturally (Trails Books, 2003) to show budding alphabet hunters the way. And they give workshops on this fascinating (and addictive) hobby. (See abcsnaturally.com for their schedule.)
